5-Week Truck Driver Training

Napier Truck Driver Training’s Class A CDL training program is designed to get you on the road to a successful trucking career in just five weeks. Serving students within the Cincinnati metropolitan area, our CDL training courses are based on industry standards and include ELDT (Entry Level Driver Training), ensuring that all Napier graduates are prepared for a safe and successful career in the trucking industry.

Napier’s CDL courses include classroom instruction and hands-on, behind-the-wheel training. Classroom, field, and road training are completed on campus and taught by experienced instructors with years of trucking industry knowledge. Students will participate in extensive practice and drive on a prepared range as well as highways and city streets, giving them the opportunity to learn and grow within real-world situations.


What are the requirements to start truck driver training?

You must be at least 18 years old to enroll at Napier Truck Driver Training. Our admissions team will cover all policies and admissions requirements before getting you ready for training.


How long is Class A CDL training?

Full-time Class A CDL training at Napier is 5 weeks (200 clock hours)
This program includes 80 hours of classroom instruction and 120 hours of hands-on, behind-the-wheel training.

Class Schedule: The full-time CDL training classes are held Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm for 5 weeks.

We also offer part time CDL training options for students who are looking to start a new career while maintaining other responsibilities during the day.

What will I learn during truck driver training?

Our CDL courses cover each of the skills needed for a career in trucking including:

  • State traffic laws
  • Accident reporting and safety responsibility laws
  • Logbook instruction
  • Maneuvers
  • Pre-trip inspection
  • Safe driving practices
  • On-road driving with in-cab instruction

At Napier Truck Driver Training we also help our students earn their endorsements including:

  • Hazardous Materials (H)
  • Tanker (N)
  • Doubles and Triples (T)

Students also have the option of training on an automatic or manual truck, removing the “E” restriction if manual is chosen.


Do I need my CDL Permit before I start?

No! You don’t need your CDL permit before starting training.

During the first two weeks of training our staff will spend time with students, preparing them to take the Ohio CDL permit test. Students will also be tested on general knowledge and combination and airbrakes, allowing them to graduate with less restrictions.


Starting Your Truck Driving Career

After completing training, graduates of Napier’s truck driver training program will be prepared for entry-level employment in the trucking industry. Students are also provided with Job Placement Assistance. We partner with local companies and national carriers who regularly recruit and hire our trucking graduates.
